My son David is 8 years old. He is small for his age. David has had a weight issue all his life. And with the latest swallow study we found out that David maybe aspirating some of his foods and liquids. We are now pureeing all his foods and thickening all his liquids to help with his swallowing. We are on the edge of getting a G tube for David. This tube will be inserted into his stomach wall and he will be fed threw it. We hope that it will be for supplementing his eating and not taking over for it. Here is a little back story on David. He has a profound hearing loss and is physically and mentally handicapped. He is on all kinds of medications, some for sleeping and some for acid reflux. David does not talk or walk, but knows how to light up a room. His smile is so warm and genuine. David normally gets around by scooting on his back. He does have a walker that he uses at school. He also has a wheelchair for when we go places. David really likes going to school. He rides the bus to and from school in his wheelchair. At school he walks in his walker up and down the hallways, to the restroom (to play in the water) and the gym. David knows how to have fun and he is a joy to have. I thank God for my little buddy. He is a blessing to our family
